Aside from knitting, my other passion is food and wine. Richard and I LOVE to eat and we have shared many memorable meals together over the years. A romantic, delicious meal can be a wonderful way to set the Valentine’s Day mood and cooking together is a wonderful bonding experience.
The following is a menu I prepared with wine pairings. This would make a wonderful Valentine’s Day menu for any couple who loves food and wine. For more information, or to get the recipes, simply click on each picture.
The key to the perfect Valentine’s menu is the right combination of intoxicating flavors. You want a meal that is light, flavorful, and delicious. You also do not want to be in the kitchen all day. Keep it simple.
First Course: Baby Spinach Salad with Roasted Strawberries
Pair it with: Henri Billiot Brut Rose $60
Main Course: Sautéed Scallops with Lemon Beurre Blanc
AND Orzo with Lemon and Parsley
Pair it with: Sokol Blosser Evolution (White Blend) $13.00
Dessert: Butter Cookies dipped in Chocolate
Make them a day ahead and store them in an air tight container in the fridge.
Pair them with:Â Warre’s Otima 20 Year Old Tawny Port $40.00
Happy Valentine’s Day! Remember to keep it simple. 🙂 Share with us if you try any of these recipes or wines and tell us how you liked them in the comments below. What are you serving for Valentine’s Day?

inI have fallen in love with Heart Necklaces this year! They are the best accessory for Valentine’s Day or for any day. 🙂
Wear a traditional heart, like the ones above from VNNC, or sport an anatomically correct heart necklace like this one from KnitKnit:
I love these because they’re fun, flirty, and a simple way to add a touch of knit to your wardrobe. 🙂
For more knit hearts, check out this post about the knit hearts I sometimes slip in Richard’s pockets/wallet/etc. It includes a simple free pattern for the tiny hearts I make.
So, what’s your favorite accessory for this Valentine’s Day?
